SOCAN Foundation launches new look for “Application Zone”

SOCAN Foundation applicants will now see a new format in the “Application Zone,” the landing page for applicants and potential applications after logging in. If you do not have a login profile, click “Login” and then “Create a Profile.”

Working with your profile

To update your profile, click on the blue “Profile Modification” button. Make the required changes and “Submit” the profile form. You will be returned to the “Application Zone” page. Be sure to keep your profile up to date, as that is our contact information for you. If your profile is not up to date, or if your language preference has not been selected, aspects of the system may not behave correctly.

To modify your password, click on the blue “Password Modification” button.

To view the grants programs, read program criteria or create a new application form, click on the blue “Grants” menu. After submitting an application you will be taken to the “Acknowledgments” page where you may view, print or save an html copy of your submitted application form. You will also receive an email informing you that the application has been submitted. If neither happens, your application was not submitted. Contact SOCAN Foundation for technical support. Click the “Application Zone” link in the upper right corner of your screen to return to the “Application Zone.”

Board decisions on your applications

Results emails for approved applications – Applicants will no longer receive posted letters informing them of grant decisions by SOCAN Foundation’s board of directors. Where your application has been approved, you will receive an email informing you of the board’s decision, sometimes with a “Message from committee to the applicant” that will help you provide more clear or accurate information for your next application. Essentially, this is a warning that similar applications submitted in future may be declined.

Results emails for declined applications - Applicants will no longer receive posted letters informing them of grant decisions by SOCAN Foundation’s board of directors. Where your application has been declined, you will receive an email informing you of the board’s decision, with a “Message from committee to the applicant” that will help you provide more clear or accurate information for your next application.

Working with your Application Zone

Accessing the “Application Zone” - Once you are logged in you may view other pages on our website. To return to the “Application Zone” just click the “Application Zone” link in the upper right corner of your screen.

Viewing a list of your applications - All applications you have saved or submitted for 2014 or 2015 deadlines will be listed on the “Application Zone” page.

Active Applications - Each application in the “Active Applications” list is shown with its current “Status” as either “Saved,” “Submitted; Being Reviewed,” “Approved; Awaiting confirmation,” “Awaiting Final Report” (showing the deadline Final Report is due) or “Final Report Submitted.”

Changing the status of your applications – Applications with the status “Submitted; Being Reviewed” will be reviewed by the SOCAN Foundation board of directors on the date that appears on the email you received after submitting. Where an action is required on your part, you will see a gray link. If the status is currently “Saved” clicking on the link will open your saved application. You may continue to work on it, save again and/or submit it. If the status is currently “Approved; Awaiting confirmation” clicking will open a simple confirmation form. Complete and submit the Confirmation form. The status of that application will then change to “Awaiting Final Report” with the due date for that report. You must complete your activity before submitting the Final Report.

Modifying a submitted Confirmation Form or Final Report – If you believe you have made errors in submitting one of these forms, contact SOCAN Foundation for technical support.

Closed Applications - Each application in the “Closed Applications” list is shown with its current “Status” as either “Paid,” “Declined” or “Cancelled.” These do not require any action on your part and are simply for your reference.
